Malinao at its highest point is at 15,00 meters above sea level. The crater can be reached in a 3 day and 2 night trek. It has a relatively large crater with the highlight of your trip walking on the crater’s rim. The crater is forested now with no recorded eruption in recent history . It’s is esimated to have erupted 500,000 years ago. Malinao meaning “clear” is known for the free flowing water on its slopes and the cool and clear water pools. Electricity genera#on (Tiwi Geothermal Plant) is also done near the area because of the volcanic vents.
The first day will consist of 3 to 4 hours of trekking just to set-up camp and to enjoy the scenery, the 2nd day will be the most evenSul as you head to the crater before heading back down to camp. The third day will be a 3 to 4 hour trek back down as you say good by to Malinao Volcano.
Malinao is generally a very wet and rainy area and there is a river running through the Volcano. The weather condi#ons and the river currents, may affect your chances to get up to the crater or may limit your time up the crater. Furthermore, your guide may recommend a home stay (basic condi#ons) if in case camping is not possible. Ideal months for this activity is from March to October which are the less wet months in the area.
CHILD POLICY: Recommended for ages 18 and up. Children aged 0-11 will not be allow to join this activity. Children aged 12 & up will be charged as an adult and the child may only join the activity if accompanied by the parent or legal guardian.
